Lake Norman Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will host a series of one-day boating safety classes beginning in mid-May. Classes are scheduled for 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM on May 12th, June 23rd and July 21st at the marina. A class is also scheduled at the Peninsula Yacht Club for June 23rd from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Classes are open to ages 14 and older. Passing the course will allow those ages 14-15 to legally operate a personal watercraft on Lake Norman, and those under age 26 to operate a boat with a motor of 10 horsepower or greater.
